Mission: The Thompson helps seniors to age well in our rural community. We provide timely support and services, and are a resource and advocate on issues related to aging. Our programs and activities foster the physical, intellectual, and social well-being of our adult community to enhance dignity, self-worth, and independence.

Basic Services: 

Nutrition:  Meals on Wheels (home delivered meals to Barnard) & congregate (dining room) meals, Commodities food box delivery

Transportation: Local rides from your Barnard home for medical appointments, errands, shopping

Wellness programs: exercise programs, Tai Chi, yoga, blood pressure checks, foot clinic, chair massages, vision, hearing, and balance screenings, vaccine clinics

Education & Socialization: medical talks, caregiver support group, driver’s safety classes, memoir group, financial planning talks , language classes & lunchtime language tables, trips, card games, art and cultural events, evening events, gardening talks, music, holiday events, travel trips

Senior Advocacy: medical equipment lending, tax preparation (AARP trained tax preparers), referrals for resources such fuel assistance, lifeline, legal aide

Aging at Home Support: one number to call with any question, referrals to vetted service providers,    “Age Well” education and outreach to community members at home, support during life transitions, facilitated HomeSharing
