Generally speaking, Vermont's Open Meeting Law requires the Selectboard to do the following:

  • Have meetings be open to the public at all times.
  • Provide advance public notice of meetings, including agendas.
  • Offer an electronic meeting platform that allows direct access, attendance, and participation of the public. 
  • Discuss all business and take all actions in open meeting.
  • Take meeting minutes and make them available to the public.
  • Electronically record all meetings.
  • Post the recording for a minimum of 30 days following the approval and posting of the official minutes for a meeting.
