Town Clerk
The Town Clerk plays a central role in many aspects of town government. Elected to a three-year term at Town Meeting, the principal responsibility of the Town Clerk is to record deeds related to real estate transactions and to file vital records. The Town Clerk is also responsible for recording and filing the proceedings of the annual and special Town Meetings. In Barnard, recent tradition is that the Town Clerk also serves as Treasurer, Tax Collector, and Delinquent Tax Collector, which are also elected positions.
