Barnard Volunteer Fire Department and First Response
The Barnard Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department provides fire, EMS, and rescue services for most of Barnard. Mutual Aid support is supplied by the Broad Brook Fire Department in East Bethel and the fire and rescue departments in Bethel, Pomfret, Woodstock, South Royalton, and the White River Valley Ambulance.

The Department has 25+ active volunteers and a First Response roster of highly trained volunteers, including a paramedic, EMTs, and Emergency Medical Responders.

Broad Brook Fire Department
The Broad Brook Fire Department primarily supplies fire service to the East Barnard area with mutual aid support from Barnard Volunteer Fire & Rescue and the South Royalton and Pomfret volunteer fire departments.
