Barnard Volunteer Fire & Rescue
The Barnard Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department (BVFD) responds to an average of 65 community calls per year that range from fire, first response, mutual aid, motor vehicle accidents, assorted alarms, odor investigations, and power lines down. There are currently 26 volunteers on the roster and 11 of them respond to both firefighter and first responder calls. In addition, BVFD members attend a weekly meeting at the firehouse for gear upkeep, vehicle maintenance, and training.

Broad Brook Volunteer Fire Association
The Broad Brook Volunteer Fire Association (BBVFA) responds to an average of 7 community calls per year. The BBVFA primarily supplies fire service to the East Barnard area with mutual aid support from Barnard Volunteer Fire & Rescue and the South Royalton and Pomfret volunteer fire departments.
