MARRIAGE LICENSES: to get married in Vermont you need a marriage license issued by a Vermont town clerk. The license cost is $60 (plus $10 for every certified copy) and is valid for 60 days from the date of issue. An authorized person must perform the wedding ceremony, otherwise the license is void. BIRTH AND DEATH CERTIFICATES: to request a copy of a certified birth or death certificate, call the Vermont State Archives and/or Vermont Vital Records at 802-863-7275 or visit the Vermont Vital Records Ordering Service website.
