Transfer Station, Recycling & Waste Management

The transfer station is a town property located next to the town garage where Barnard residents bring their trash and recycling for disposal. Punch cards for trash disposal fees can be purchased at the transfer station whenever it is open, or at the Town Office.

Recycling is “no-sort” meaning that recyclable glass, metal, plastic, paper, and cardboard can be in the same container. “No-sort” does NOT mean that trash can be mingled with recyclables. Separate bins are provided for redeemable bottles and cans. The transfer station also has a bin for organic matter and food scraps for composting.

The Town of Barnard’s waste services are provided by contract with the Bethel/Royalton Solid Waste Program along with eight towns formally called the Alliance Solid Waste Management Program. By contractual arrangement with the White River Alliance, Barnard property owners may also use the Transfer Station located at 122 Waterman Road, Royalton, Vermont. Details available here.
